With an Alohomora we will together unlock some of the locations where the Harry Potter Series was filmed and sites around London that inspired JK Rowling’s Magical World. Just watch out for He Who Shall Not Be Named and Death Eaters along the way…

Westminster Underground Station

The scene where Harry shows Mr Weasley how to use a tube pass on their way to the Ministry of Magic in ‘Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix’ was filmed here.

Horse Guards Avenue Corner with Whitehall

This is where Harry, Ron and Hermione take Polijuice’s potion to infiltrate the Ministry of Magic in ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1’ was filmed. In the bottom left-hand picture, you can see the three of them about to enter the entrance to the toilet until the sign ‘Gentleman’.

Great Scotland Yard, by The Met Police Stables

This is the entrance to the Ministry of Magic in ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’.

Scotland Place by the back gate of the Department of International Trade

This is where Harry, Ron, and Hermione kidnap three employees in ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1’. Look at how many people are involved in the filming!!

The scene where Ron is on the lookout and pretends to tie his shoes:

Trafalgar Square (near the corner of Charing Cross Road and Duncannon Street)

Trafalgar Square was featured in the opening scene of ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ when a small group of Death Eaters fly across Trafalgar Square on their way to Diagon Alley, to kidnap Garrick Ollivander.

This is also the site of the largest red carpet in the world which was at the premiere of the last film of the series: ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part 2’.

The Palace Theatre

Pictures from inside the Palace Theatre – home to the ‘The Cursed Child’.

St Paul’s Cathedral

The spiral staircase inside St Paul’s Cathedral was used in the filming of ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ as the “Divination Staircase” to gain access to Professor Trelawney’s Divination classroom.

City of London School

This is where Daniel Radcliffe went to school.

Millenium Bridge

This bridge features in ‘Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince’ as the Death Eaters fly over London.

Shakespeare’s Globe

There is a “Blue Plaque” outside the Globe dedicated to Sam Wannamaker, the father of Zoe Wannamaker, also known as Madame Hooch.

Borough Market

This is where the Knight Bus drops Harry Potter outside the Leaky Cauldron Pub in ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’.

King’s Cross Station

This is where Ron and Harry were filmed flying the Ford Anglia to Hogwarts in ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’. The station entrance also features in ‘Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2’.

Platform 9 & ¾

The iconic location where the Hogwarts Express departs from London on its way to Hogwarts. Although the actual filming location of Platform 9 & ¾ was between platforms 4 and 5 in Kings Cross.
