St Patrick’s Day

This annual event, which honours Ireland’s patron saint, is celebrated worldwide and in London the day is marked with fervour. Restaurants and bars throughout the city host special St Patrick’s Day events but the main event is a parade that runs through central London, with carnival floats and a marching band. Over on Trafalgar Square, entertainment such as live Irish music and dancing takes place throughout the day.

Women of the World Festival

Hosted by the Southbank Centre, Women of the World Festival, which is known as WOW, is back for its sixth edition to coincide with International Women’s Day. Each year a series of performances, talks and workshops take place in celebration of great women around the world, while also looking at the obstacles some women face. Over 150 events are on this year’s events schedule.

Easter Weekend

Each year, Londoners embrace the long Easter weekend by joining in on events around the city, including Easter egg hunts and chocolate-themed afternoon teas in London’s hotels. Over on the iconic British clipper ship Cutty Sark, an Easter Egg hunt will take place, with chocolate eggs hidden on deck.

The Boat Race

An astounding 300,000 spectators gather on the banks of the River Thames each year to see the famous Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race unfold. With the race starting in the late afternoon, it’s well timed for discovering London’s riverside restaurants, bars and traditional pubs. Historic pub The Blue Anchor will be setting up an outdoor bar and barbecue for the day.

Making top quality contemporary art more attainable, the Affordable Art Fair is resoundingly popular in cities across the world, and London is no exception. Botticelli Reimagined

The work of celebrated artist Sandro Botticelli will be on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum this March, promising to be the largest exhibition of the artist’s work in Britain since 1930. Reinterpretations of Botticelli’s artworks in fashion, film, sculpture and print will be on display, alongside over 50 of the original artworks by the artist himself.
