It’s a time of rebirth. The craziness of Christmas is over, we’ve all recovered from the frivolities of New Year’s eve, and it’s time to take a look at your calendar and see what adventures lie ahead in January.

Although the decorations may be cleared away soon, London certainly doesn’t grind to a halt this time of year. Everybody in the capital is putting on their health hats and getting prepared for the challenges of 2018. You’ll see lots of active events and cultural moments on our list this month. If you missed out on any cool activities over the Christmas period now is also a great time to take another run at them and see if you can get tickets.

1. Farewell to Christmas

Twelfth Night is the official end of the Christmas period. Celebrate the occasion and wave goodbye to the holiday season in style with carol singing, mulled wine, and the traditional burning of holy and ivy. Hosted in the Geffrye Museum gardens on the 8th of Jan, this unique event is your chance to experience some traditional English culture.

2. Ice skating

If you missed out over Christmas you have one last chance to get your skates on at the Natural History Museum gardens, Canary Wharf, or Somerset House.

3. Re:solutions health festival

Start your New Year’s health kick in style at the Re:solutions health festival. Yoga classes, health food, mindfulness meditation, and music are the name of the game at this week-long wellness celebration.

4. Burns night

Edinburgh is only a short train ride away on our day trips by rail. However, if you don’t think you’ll make it this January, experience some true Scottish culture on Burns Night 2018. 5. Can Graphic Design Save Your Life?

One of the most interesting exhibitions in London right now. Explore the relationship between design and health over at the Wellcome collection.

6. Midwinter Mythical: Yoga and Vegan supper

Get down to Shoreditch on the 12th of Jan for this superb deep-dive into the world of Yoga, followed by a gorgeous Vegan meal.

7. Hogwarts in the snow

For the festive season, the Making of Harry Potter experience will undergo a drastic make-over to show how filmmakers created the ice, snow and fire effects that were so pivotal to the movies. Check it out before the closing date on the 28th of January.

8. Lumiere London

London’s astonishing festival of light is back from the 18th to the 21st of January. Explore the London streets under the dazzling work of some of the country’s best lighting designers.

9. London’s Short Film Festival

If you’ve never experienced the world of short film before, you’re in for a treat. The festival returns for its 15th year in one of the most elevating and eclectic art experiences in the city.

10. The January Sales

Of course, don’t forget the January sales! Retailers all over London will be slashing prices in one of the year’s biggest sales. Make sure you get down to your favourite stores this month.
