Not all tours are created equal. At Evan Evans, we pride ourselves in giving our clients fascinating, seamless, and in-depth experiences on the go, whether they want to see London in style or explore the beauty of Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Bath. And that’s exactly why we’re thrilled to partner with the inspiring SideStory for a new programme of London outings.
SideStory specialises in private, memorable, and creative experiences for travellers. All tours are led by local expert insiders, from journalists and historians to chefs and poets, and each itinerary is tailored to attendees’ own interests and pursuits. From photography trips around town to personal styling sessions, SideStory’s experiences provide a completely different way to explore London.
In partnership with SideStory, we’re thrilled to offer four different exceptional London experiences. These exclusive tours provide an evocative and multi-sensory way of exploring the capital, and are sure to be a highlight of your holiday.
Those who’ve signed on for the first experience, Secret City, will have the privilege of exploring London’s streets in the company of Telegraph travel writer and author Sophie Campbell. During this spellbinding excursion, travellers will discover hidden corners of the city, visit tiny shops, and otherwise peep into London’s lesser-known locations.
Artistic travellers can sign on for the East End Revival – Photography experience, led by Stuart Freeman. A sharp-eyed and talented documentary photographer, Freeman grew up in East London in the 1970s; his stories of the city’s evolution are as fascinating as the neighbourhood’s sights, and his photography advice will help ensure you return home with some beautiful snapshots to show for it.
Then there’s the Vegetarian Exploration – Food Tour. Follow the lead of food writer and recipe developer Naomi Knill—who’s behind the Ginger Gourmand blog—as she guides you through Peckham in South London. A neighbourhood with a thriving cultural mix and plenty of foodie-beloved addresses, Peckham is best explored with a seasoned local. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample a delicious variety of vegetarian delicacies (note that the tour can also be adapted to suit vegans) as Knill fills you in on the area’s inspiring chefs, producers, pop-ups, and restaurants. (If this tour has piqued your interest, read more in our guide to vegan London).
Finally, the fourth featured experience with SideStory is the Shopping in Style – Personal Stylist outing. Ideal for fashionistas, retail mavens, and anyone else looking to connect with London’s stylish side, the tour is led by former Cartier creative consultant and current fashion stylist Boo Attwood. Hobnob with buyers and tailors, and browse the racks at a number of exclusive boutiques, all while Attwood schools you on the shapes, cuts and styles that flatter your figure.
All four of these SideStory experiences are private and exclusive, and the specific itineraries will be formed around guests’ particular interests. Most involve a moderate amount of walking and have between a two- and three-hour duration, so you’ll certainly have ample opportunity to explore.
